If you are anything like me, you enjoy a good jigsaw puzzle!  Whether its the hundreds of pieces all having their place or the challenge of putting it together, puzzles are one of my favorite past time activities.  Once I finish a puzzle, I glue it together, place it in a frame, and hang it up as a picture – displaying them proudly.

The real challenge is finding the right jigsaw puzzle for sale.  Buying them used often leads to missing pieces, but new puzzles can sometimes be expensive.  This is where we come in!  Here at jigsaw puzzle for sale, we’ll help you find just the right type for you.

Used Jigsaw Puzzles for Sale

We’ll start of by listing some of the benefits and disadvantages of buying used jigsaw puzzles.

1) Used jigsaw puzzles are cheaper

Any side-by-side comparison of the same puzzle, one used, one new, will almost always show the used puzzle being cheaper.  Once someone finishes a puzzle, it isn’t uncommon for them to want their money back.  If they don’t think they are going to do the puzzle again, and they don’t want to take up storage space in the closet, the next best thing to do is sell it to a thrift shop or in a garage sale.

2) Pieces are almost guaranteed to be missing

Keeping 1000+ tiny pieces of cardboard all in the same place and kept together isn’t an easy feat to accomplish.  Even when I work on my own puzzles, I end up finding random pieces on the ground or under the couch before I am finished.  As much pride as I take in my puzzles, I know there are others out there who wouldn’t mind loosing a piece or two.

What happens when they finish their puzzle, a few pieces short, and decide to sell it to a store?  Is that clerk going to check and count to make sure the puzzle has all its pieces?  They are going to sell it for cheap most likely, and isn’t worth their time – leaving you the unpleasant job of discovering the missing spots.  Don’t take that chance!  Even if they are cheap, its not worth the frustration missing pieces will cause.

Now that we know used puzzles are not worth buying, lets cover why new puzzles are so much better!

1) New jigsaw puzzles are complete

The most commence sense and yet profound benefit of new puzzles are their 100% completeness.  If a new puzzle has any missing pieces (which is extremely unlikely), simply return it to the store you purchased it at and get a refund or new puzzle.

The frustration you won’t have to go through is completely worth any increase in price.  Hey, I would pay $10 to avoid hours of anger and disappointment - wouldn’t you?  Knowing full well from the start that the puzzle you begin will be full when you end is a very satisfying feeling.  Puzzle piecing with confidence is what makes jigsaw puzzling so much fun!

2) New puzzles are clean and in perfect shape

Since the pieces haven’t been used and never put together, they are extremely clean and in good shape.  It’s the oil on the human hand that slowly erodes puzzle pieces and makes them dirty.  Oil and dust combined make the pieces tattered and grimy.  Most puzzles even come wrapped in plastic containers to further seal in their freshness and avoid losing any pieces during shipment.

3) New jigsaws are the best to use as pictures

If you enjoy gluing, framing, and hanging your completed puzzles, a new box is the way to go.  There are just too many risks involved with buying a used set of puzzle pieces to hope they will look good and all be present.  Completed puzzles seem to make the best pictures, since they cost so little, look so good, and have a sense of accomplishment.

While it may seem like a good idea, I strongly urge you to not buy a used puzzle.  If you are going to put a lot of effort into the puzzle and really want to be proud of it, won’t you want the end result looking shiny, clean, and pristine?  Other than the satisfaction of completing the puzzle, what good is a dirty, torn, damaged-looking piece of art!
